About Jamieson:

Established in 1943, Jamieson Manufacturing Co. is a nationwide wholesale distributor of fencing, gates and access control products for residential, commercial, industrial, and high security uses. We manufacture galvanized, aluminized, and vinyl coated chain link fence fabric and produce aluminum and steel frame gates. We are family-owned with 400 employees, 24 distribution centers and several manufacturing support centers. Professional fence and access control contractors are our only customers. We do not have an installation division or sell to the public. Our locations operate as Jamieson Fence Supply.

Position Reports to: President

Key tasks:

  • Responsible for managing in-processing to include, offer letters, reference checks, background checks, drug and alcohol testing, new hire paperwork, e-verify and any necessary follow up;
  • Run and oversee payroll processing, changes and backup through Paychex, manage time and attendance, manage unemployment claims and employment verifications;
  • Work with management on employee relations issues;
  • Interpret and process wage garnishments, bankruptcies, tax levies, and child support orders;
  • Maintain and update human resource information system records and files with current and accurate data;
  • Oversee benefits programs such as life, health, dental, vision and disability insurances, pension; plans, vacation, sick leave, and employee assistance including adding, changing and deleting employee information, reviewing invoices for accuracy, liaison for benefits, participate in the renewal process and open enrollment, update benefit guides;
  • Manage leave of absence process;
  • Process terminations including sending COBRA letters;
  • Maintain and update management reports;
  • Responsible for EEO reporting;
  • Responsible for OSHA reporting;
  • Maintain and update job descriptions, policies and procedures;
  • Point of contact for workers’ compensation claims; reports, maintains and monitors all workers' compensation cases; follows-up on open cases;
  • Assist in the planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee performance;
  • Supervise HR/payroll and reception assistants;
  • Other miscellaneous duties as required;

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree required, Human Resources degree and SPHR/PHR certification preferred;
  • 5-7 years working in a HR Generalist and Payroll functions;
  • Experience working with Paychex preferred or other payroll, benefits and time and attendance software;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to communicate well with employees and all levels of management;
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and a professional dedication to quality and service;
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with multiple deadlines;
  • Ability to adapt to change in business conditions and environments;
  • Strong attention to details, highly organized, and a sense of urgency;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Current knowledge of HR/payroll procedures and related laws;
  • Excellent understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence;
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, to compute rate, ratio, and percent, draw and interpret bar graphs;
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions;
